when glaciers burst
The destruction on the Pamelia Lake trail was impressive. Last November part of the Milk Creek Glacier on Mt Jefferson burst, as did glaciers on Mt Hood & Mt Rainier and probably up and down the whole Cascade Range due to one of those crazy "Pineapple Express" storm that brought lots of warm rain. The debris flow caused major damage to this trail which was thankfully repaired by the time we hiked through. Can you imagine how loud this must have been? Huge boulders and trees were tossed about and part of Pamelia Creek completely changed course.
You can see the mud/water/debrise marks at the base of the trees.
