approaching the end of our 8-9 mile hike on the Timberline Trail. Where we crossed Eliot Creek on a detour was a strange rocky landscape full of huge boulders and sand. We'd done over 2000 feet of elevation gain and the promise of ice cold beers was luring us back to our campsite at Tilly Jane, a short distance away.
