I saw Cinderella

Hello everyone!

First off I have a NEW camera. My camera broke a few weeks ago and Canon agreed to fix it for free since it was a "known problem" even though my warranty was long expired. Last Wednesday I get a box from Canon in which there was a brand new camera, several models higher than mine. I went from an A60 to an A520! It was cheaper for them to replace it than to repair it. Wooohooo! I'm one lucky girl!

I had a very nice weekend starting with Friday off for Veteran's Day. I spent Friday watching Sex & the City & on Flickr. That evening a group of us went down to the Harborside for drinks and dinner to celebrate Brian's 30th birthday. It's right on the Willamette River...I love the lights and the bridges over the water. We had a great time and a bunch of people showed up. Later Brian went to a show and a group of us went to the Watertrough on Hawthorne. We played a bunch of pinball (Dirty Harry) and shuffleboard which was tons of fun.

Saturday I watched more Sex & the City and read for a while. In the afternoon I met up with Chris. We grabbed some sandwiches for lunch then went to go see the George Clooney movie about Edward R. Murrow & McCarthyism alas the movie started at 2:05 not 2:50 as the internet said. There were no other movies starting that we wanted to see so we decided to just go back to Chris' house & hang out. We watched home improvement shows on TLC which I'm always a sucker for.

Later that night I went over to Molly & Andy's house for a potluck dinner. It was tons of fun with tons of food. After everyone ate we played cards (President) for a long, hilarious time. The rules became more and more complicated as each President added to them. It was lots of fun!

Sunday I volunteered at the art museum for the first time since last spring. I'll do it two weeks in a row and then I'll go to a once a month schedule. There is a huge exhibit up of the Hesse family collection (German royalty). It was amazingly busy while I was there. One of the items in the exhibit is referred to as the cinderella carriage . Every few hours there is a docent dressed up as Cinderella who gives tours for small children. It was pretty cute to see all the little girls crowded around her in her big foofy dress & tiara answering questions about art.

Afterwards I went over to Elaine & Gina's house. Elaine made a fabulous dinner of caesar salad with grilled chicken. We watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which I have to say was pretty disappointing. I love Johnny Depp and normally I love Tim Burton movies but this one left me wanting more and I really disliked the songs but I dislike musicals in general.

So that was my weekend. Please let me know what you've been up to & how you are.

xoxo,
carolyn
