some much needed rest
Hello everyone!
I had a wonderful mellow weekend at home. It had been about 8 weeks since I'd had a weekend at home so I was grateful to not go anywhere. I was still feeling sick and run down so I did very little. Friday evening I ate a wonderful meal of enchiladas and spanish rice and beans with Elaine, Gina, Joe, Bridget and Bobby. Elaine's enchiladas are a guilty pleasure. She makes them before anyone can see what goes in them because they're not so healthy. I live by my mom's mantra "All things in moderation" (the good & the bad)! We had a tense moment when Bobby dumped Dave's Ultimate Insanity Hot Sauce all over his plate of food. This is the absolute HOTTEST hot sauce I've ever experienced. I use a tiny drop which I keep quarantined from the rest of my food and dip my fork tines in very daintily. I shouted across the table "BOBBY! NOOOOOOO!" We offered him another plate of food deeming the hot sauce plate ruined but he soldiered on with it. He retreated at one point and came back looking watery eyed and red faced. I shudder to think of the consequences of eating that much of that insane hot sauce.
I went home early and hung out with Camille for a while. She was watching The Exorcist though so I went to bed & read until sleepiness overtook me. I was sleeping before 10 PM!
Saturday morning I woke up and ran some errands before stopping by to see Elaine for while. I went home and watched some episodes of Six Feet Under before going back to the Hilberts for dinner for...leftover enchiladas & beans & rice! mmmm they're just as good the next day! The girls all went out to a birthday party celebration and I went back home to watch a movie. I watched "Crash" which was excellent and disturbing. I then read and went to sleep early again.
Sunday morning I read the paper before going to Elaine's to do some laundry. First I drove her & Camille down to Sellwood to retrieve their cars from the previous night's birthday festivities. We then went back to Elaine & Gina's. Elaine's been on a big juicing kick so she made some fresh carrot/beet/celery/parsley juice...very good for a sick girl like me. We did the crossword and Elaine cooked a big German pancake for breakfast. I went home and read and napped for a while before coming back over for dinner. Elaine grilled marinated chicken and Gina made the yummy avocado/mango salsa. We had a great dinner with beets and green beans and a big salad. Dave was back from Trout Lake so the four of us played cards after dinner until calling it an early night again.
So nothing too exciting: sleeping, reading, good food and movies. I'm feeling better but definitely not 100%. Being sick is a drag. I hope to be all better soon!
Please let me know what you did this weekend and how you are!
xoxo,
carolyn
